Our team is committed to caring for each other and our patients

Complete Dental Wynnum comprises of 20 staff members:

Our 4 full time Dentists all graduated from the University of Queensland and belong to the ADA (Australian Dental Association)

Roger Bastow

Since graduating over 10 years ago Roger has become one of the principal dentists in our practice and has played an integral role in developing Complete Dental Wynnum into the successful practice it is today. He has gained a notable reputation as a gentle and skilled dental operator. Roger has an interest in a broad range of dental procedures and has undertaken post graduate courses to extend his knowledge and experience further.

He particularly enjoys:

• Cosmetic dentistry including crown and bridge work
• Dental Implants
• And has a keen interest in Orthodontics and Oral Surgery

Outside of work his 3 favourite activities include:

• Family time with his lovely wife and 4 children
• Fishing/boating
• & Fishing!

Alvin Chye

Raised in Brisbane, Alvin attended Citipointe Christian College in Mansfield in his primary years, and completed high school at the Anglican Grammar School. He graduated from his Dentistry studies with first Class Honours. In 2006, Alvin commenced working at Complete Dental Wynnum and in 2010 became partner. 

He has a gentle caring chair-side manner and takes time to thoroughly explain treatment options for his patients. He is a skilled clinician who is passionate about achieving the best results for each of his patients. You will find Alvin very approachable and a great communicator.

Alvin is also about to complete his Graduate Diploma in Conscious sedation and pain control from the University of Sydney which will allow him to provide sedation services on premises.

His particular dental interests include:

• Wisdom teeth removal
• All cosmetic dental work, including crown and bridge
• And enjoys sharing in the success of dental make-over’s with many of his patients

Outside of work his 3 favourite activities include:

• Spending time with his beautiful wife and baby girl Mia
• Running around playing soccer
• Watching the footy

Ross Dunn

Ross continues to be a vital member of our professional team. As the founding dentist of our practice over 30years ago, he has watched his practice grow into the size and scope that we as a team now benefit from. Because of his drive and passion we are all more aware of how to build good patient rapport and the importance of team building activities and training. He’s known to his loyal patients and within our staff as the ‘bright spark’ who is always trying to lighten our day. In addition to his vast experience, he has a broad knowledge of all modern procedures and makes a point of staying on the ‘cutting edge’ of the latest dental advancements, procedures and technology. 

His wide range of dental interests include:

• All restorative and Cosmetic dentistry including Crown and Bridge
• Providing you with the best care and value to help you maintain your teeth for life

His 3 top interests outside of work include:

• Spending time with his wonderful wife and active grandchildren
• Exciting holidays
• Working with Dental Mission teams in 3^rd world countries

Grace Kim

Grace is a true local as she started her schooling just down the road at the Wondall Primary school. After finishing her senior studies at Brisbane State High she went on to graduate from UQ dentistry in 2009.

She is professional and friendly, caring in nature and likes to take a calm and gentle approach to dentistry. Grace loves children and finds it rewarding to see patients overcoming their dental fears. She is understanding and aims to keep her patients well informed about their dental treatment through clear communication. Grace came to Australia at the age of 7 and speaks both English and fluent South Korean.

Grace enjoys all aspects of dentistry:

• General and preventative dentistry
• Oral rehabilitation and cosmetics
• Prevention of tooth and jaw problems due to clenching or grinding

Her favourite pursuits when not at work include:

• Spending time with her close-knit family
• Cooking up a feast
• Running around with friends playing soccer or whatever’s going!

Andrea Blanchard

Andrea has recently been welcomed to our dental team and already we can see she has a fun-loving attitude towards life. She enjoys helping people and encouraging patients who would generally avoid dental treatment. Andrea has an interest in volunteer dental work overseas. She is dedicated to expanding her clinical knowledge of new emerging treatment procedures to provide the best treatment options for her patients.

Her dental interests include:

• All aspects of preventative dentistry
• Restorative treatment and maintaining natural dentition
• Oral rehabilitation including helping to improve dental appearance and function

Outside of work:

• Spending time with family and friends
• Exercising outdoors and keeping busy
• Travelling AND she used to work in a lolly shop before becoming a Dentist!

Kay Ball  Oral Health Therapist

After graduating from her Bachelor of Applied Science in Oral Health (UQ) Kay worked initially in an orthodontic practice and with QLD Health in school dental vans before coming to our practice in 2005. Her qualification covers a dual role – Dental Hygienist and Dental Therapist.

She loves seeing patients respond to her treatment and education as they come to realise how important healthy gums are to their dental and general health. Kay endeavours to complete a thorough clean with as little discomfort as possible – after all she wants her patients to keep coming regularly for their vital dental cleans! She has completed additional courses relating to orthodontics, local anaesthesia for adults and professional whitening. If you have any teeth whitening questions we often refer you to speak with Kay as she looks after our ZOOM treatments.

Her 3 favourite things outside of work include:

• Quality time with her wonderful husband and 3 kids including camping
• Painting when she can
• Collecting frogs (preferably live ones!)

Melinda Ryder  Dental Therapist

As a dental therapist with many years experience, Melinda sees the majority of our young patients (4-18yrs) for their dental treatment. Melinda is a much valued member of our team not only because her patients love her but because she is such fun to have around. When we get together for a meeting – it’s usually Melinda who has an amusing activity organised for us all to share in. She is a real team player and often goes the extra mile to help one of our staff or to provide a scrumptious afternoon tea for us! You will find Melinda to be not only fun-loving but also a calming influence on your child during their dental treatment.

Her 3 top activities include:

• Helping her great husband with his business
• Raising 3 active daughters
• Finding time for a cup of tea & a good book!

Lyn Gilbert  Practice Manager

Lyn completed her business degree before starting with our practice over 15 years ago. She has experience working in every area of our practice so has a wealth of dental knowledge. In her role as practice manager she ensures that everything runs smoothly. Lyn is the most helpful person you could hope to find. Her first love is working on reception and giving personal attention to our patients. She is very passionate about the standard of care that our patients deserve & leads by example. • Spending time with her fabulous husband at their getaway farm
• Catching up with her gorgeous grandchildren and her 4 children
